چکیده
An occlusion of the artery Percheron (AOP) is a rare clinical condition that remains diagnostic challenge for physicians given its variable presentation. This infarction result an anatomical variant single vessel arising from posterior cerebral artery. Occlusion AOP results in levels alteration consciousness, vertical gaze palsy, and memory impairment. Unfortunately, due to this presentation these strokes are often missed. We report case 71 year-old-female who presented with sudden onset unresponsiveness was subsequently diagnosed bilateral thalamic midbrain involvement secondary occlusion. Delayed diagnosis can poor neurologic outcomes as demonstrated making it imperative bring further awareness syndrome.

A 55-year-old man with diabetes and hypertension presented with sudden onset of transient somnolence. When he woke up, gait ataxia was noted. This was followed by recurrent fluctuations in consciousness and skew deviation. An urgent neuroimaging protocol for stroke demonstrated symmetric bilateral hyperintense thalamic lesions on diffusionweighted MRI (figure), consistent with acute ischemic ev...

The artery of Percheron is a rare anatomical variant where a single thalamic perforating artery arises from the proximal posterior cerebral artery (P1 segment) between the basilar artery and the posterior communicating artery and supplies the rostral mesencephalon and both paramedian territories of the thalami. Almost one-third of human brains present this variant. Occlusion of the artery of Pe...

The artery of Percheron is a rare anatomical variant whereby a single vessel arising from the proximal segment of one posterior cerebral artery supplies both medial thalami. This is a rare example of a single arterial supply to brain structures on both sides of the midline. Occlusion of the artery of Percheron results in bilateral medial thalamic infarction, which is manifest clinically as gaze...
